If you are lucky enough to be Champing with us on Friday 15th August, you may wish to pay a visit to a one of the events taking place across Britain to commemorate the end of WWII. 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day 80) and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) have created a special interactive map for the occasion! Click the link here and pop your postcode into the search bar to find out what’s happening near you.

While VE Day 1945 marks the end of the Second World War in Europe, thousands of British, Commonwealth and allied troops continued to battle against Japanese forces in Asia and the Pacific. Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day) was declared on 15th August, a day that represents the resilience, sacrifices, and courage of those who fought for our freedom. It is a day of immense historical significance, and DCMS believe it is crucial that this anniversary is honoured in a visible and meaningful way.

To commemorate this special anniversary DCMS want to ‘light up britain’ and are asking iconic buildings and landmarks to illuminating their facades from 21:00 on Friday 15th August. If you would like your business organisation to get involved, head to our website for more information.

Happy VE and VJ Days, and happy Champing!
