Rambling and Roaming around Claverley

It’s worth popping into Bridgnorth, an 7 miles away and set on the picturesque River Severn. This old English market town has a wealth of history and wonderful architecture, and also home to the Severn Valley Railway. This heritage steam-railway joins High Town to Low Town, boasting a platform complete with a refreshment room serving breakfast and light lunches, and even an on-platform pub! To make a day of it, take a ride to the fascinating Georgian town of Bewdley, or the stunning Arley station, featured on many film and TV productions and a short walk to Arley Arboretum with the longest laburnum arch in Britain!

Immerse yourself in British Industrial History and experience open air museums galore! A short 14 miles from Claverley, 5 miles from Telford Town Centre, is Ironbridge Valley of Invention  set in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and widely regarded as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. There is a collection of museums, including Blists Hill Victorian Town, which recreates a Shropshire town from the 19th and early 20th Century, and the world-famous icon, Ironbridge, spanning the stunning River Severn valley.

There’s not just Ironbridge to explore, but the town of Dudley, just 11 miles from Claverley, is home to the award-winning Black Country Living Museum bringing the history of the Black Country to life in the 26 acre open air reconstruction of life from early industrialised Britain. From canal boat trips to sweet shops, there’s a whole day of exploring and something for everyone.
