If you’re reading this trying to decide to give champing a go then read no further and book it asap. We stayed in st Mary’s church, Walkhampton in devon. It’s just on the edge of Dartmoor which is an awesome place in itself. The church is off the beaten track and tucked halfway up a hill. I suprised my nephews and their faces were a picture. I wanted to give them an experience they’ll never forget and i believe I achieved that. The church was beautifully characterful. It had beds, chairs, tables, a kitchenette with a small fridge and a kettle. We were lucky to have a flushing toilet too! The stained glass window were mesmerising and i was very happy to wake up early to see the sunrise through them. It had a tower which was pretty spooky but my nephews loved it. It did get a tad chilly in the evening but it was a blessing after a hot day. It also had WiFi which was useful so we could plan our days out and of course had a movie night. I would go back without a doubt and will be planning a stay with one of the other churches as soon as I can. Also the thought that was put into making our stay there was heartwarming. A lovely card, some biscuits and a pint of milk was provided. Also the correspondence from champbots was friendly and came across as though they really cared that we had a great time. An all round amazing experience.
