Last night we had our first champing experience and we were very happy Champers. (2 adults, 3 children 8,7,5 and our dog)
From the moment we saw the church it felt like an adventure but letting ourselves and seeing our home for the night was something else!
The church had been set up lovely for our use with the 5 chairs and cushions around a table full of candles and lanterns. The campbeds cosily nestled away. The children quickly claimed their beds and set out their things. Strings of fairy lights also set out which made a lovely atmosphere once the dark started setting in. It felt like everything had been thought of.
We had an explore of our surroundings and the church was atmospheric, it quite simply blew us away and we all couldn’t believe it was ours for the night.
We had a very peaceful and comfortable evening. We all woke at around 3am. So we decided to make the most of it. The children had a little game of hide and seek. Used their torches to find “ghosts” and had some middle of the night snacks.
This has got to be one of the most unusual things we have done. The children and ourselves have made some amazing memories. We would like to thank everyone who makes this possible. Especially those who set the church up for our use, you did it beautifully.
We are definitely going to be champing again next year.
