We are a couple that travelled from California, USA to elope in the UK. On our last day in the UK I surprised my unsuspecting new husband with a night champing in All Saints Church in Langport. Boy was he surprised and extremely excited! He kept mentioning how his new wife is the BEST!!!
The champ bots had 2 bottles of prosecco waiting for us which we promptly finished off and explored the church and grounds.
The loo was very clean, albeit slightly creepy to walk to at night through the graveyard while it rained…but that’s what strong protective husbands are for, right?!?!
Our sleeping bags and cots were quite warm and comfortable. We slept soundly.
All Saints Church was great because it has electricity (if the flameless candles and fairy lights aren’t enough) hot/cold water dispenser, and is in town so you’re not completely secluded in the event you needed emergency supplies or just don’t fancy being too far away from civilization.
A hot water kettle, tea and coffee were provided as well as breakfast at the Kitchen at the Wharf Cafe. Delicious and friendly service.
In summary, would we stay again? Heck yeah we would in a heart beat! It was one of the best experiences to end our wedding week. The next time we’re in the UK, we’ll definately book another champing church stay.
Thank you Churches Conservation Trust, you all are doing a great job!
