What a fantastic, unique experience! My friend and I stayed one night at All Saints in Aldwincle. Arrived relatively early on a cloudy, windy day, so went for a rambling walk on the area footpaths, which was lovely. Got some snacks and drinks at the small grocery store in town, HG Watts & Son, and had a nice chat with the shopkeeper. We took a LOT of pictures of the church and the surrounding area that evening. Played checkers and drank wine by lantern light, and I was glad I brought warm clothes, including a winter hat! I got a lot warmer when I grabbed the sleeping bag from my cot and covered up to my waist. Those are some warm sleeping bags! I slept much better than I expected, and was thrilled to wake up to a lovely sunrise. The birds were singing like mad, and it was a gorgeous morning. Took even more pictures of the church in the sunlight! Then Farmer Tim brought breakfast (yum!) and it was time to take off for the next stop on our adventure. I’m so grateful that I heard about Champing and we were able to make it a part of our trip. Would love to do it again someday!
