Toddler Travel Diaries go Champing!

May 28, 2025

We were so happy to welcome Minna, Andy, and Malva of Toddler Travel Diaries to St Barnabas, Queen Camel, this month!

Any parent will tell you that holidays with a toddler in tow can be tricky! Minna and Andy of Toddler Travel Diaries, however, seem to have cracked the code, as they regularly travel the world with their two-year-old, Malva! Their goal is to inspire families to travel adventurously; you can find unique recommendations, tips and detailed itineraries on their blog here.

Most recently, the trio spent the night Champing at St Barnabas Church, Queen Camel, in Somerset, and as usual, their took their audience right along with them. Malva had a lovey time running up and down the aisles, and our thoughtful Champing Assistant, Paul, even left out some toys for her to play with.

Here at the CCT, we understand how important it is to engage families and young children with church architecture and heritage; that’s how mini-Champers grow into historians, conservators, and adults passionate about the preservation of these beautiful, vital buildings. We also understand how difficult it can be to take the whole family on holiday at a reasonable price.

We always charge half-price for kids, but during the summer holidays (this year that’s 18 July – 31 August) up to four children under 15 stay for free.

Come Champing in our beautiful churches this summer, and teach your kids all about the importance of heritage buildings. Trust us, they won’t even realise it’s educational. Take it from Malva; when her parents asked her to describe her favourite part of the Champing trip, she started with the toys.

You can read all about Minna, Andy, and Malva’s Champing adventure in their blog post here, or check out their virtual tour of St Barnabas on Instagram.

Happy summer, happy Champing, and all the best from the Champing team!
